What sanding gives back to the timber

Sanding removes the worn fibre and the silvered layer; the protective coat holds the result. A split or rotten board does not disappear with it: it is repaired separately, when that is genuinely needed.

Before any work we look at the material and the condition of the joints. Our guide explains how to clean, sand or replace decking.

On another question that often comes up, we also cover protect exterior wood near the sea. This visualisation is an example of the kind of difference involved, not a completed job.

Direct answer

We restore existing wood decks near Aveiro, Vagos and Ílhavo: sanding to bring back colour and fibres, spot repair of damaged boards, and a final protective treatment. A greyed deck doesn't mean it's rotting. In most cases it recovers without replacing the wood. Price is always confirmed after an on-site assessment.

02

Clean, sand or replace: how we decide

Cleaning handles surface dirt and algae. Sanding treats damaged fibres and restores colour without touching the structure. Spot replacement only applies when a specific board is rotten or structurally compromised. We don't install new decks, only restore and repair existing ones.

What we don't do

We don't install new wood decks, only restore existing structures. Severely damaged boards are replaced individually; if damage is widespread, we say so clearly before any quote.

Frequently asked questions

Should I clean, sand or replace my wood deck?

It depends on the real condition of the wood: cleaning handles surface dirt, sanding treats raised fibres, and replacement is only needed for rotten or structurally compromised boards.

How do I restore a greyed wood deck?

Greying alone does not prove rot or mean that sanding is needed. Cleaning, compatible grey-wood treatment or sanding are chosen after assessing the wood and its existing finish. Repairs and replacement require an on-site assessment.
